Sama's Accidental Adventure
Sama and her parents were hiking in the countryside. Every morning, they trekked up a different mountain. Sama, as usual, had scurried ahead of her parents, but stayed in their sight. She heard a rustling noise and then a small explosion. Suddenly, there was a loud thud. Something black ahead had caught Sama’s attention. She darted towards it and found a large hole which she could easily fit through. Curious as to what lay at the other end of the hole, she jumped in.
At this moment, her parents were looking at a queer flower and did not notice her wandering into the hole. When they called Sama to take a look at the flower, she did not reply. So they scanned the area, but could not see her. Worried, they searched all over the mountain for, but could not find her anywhere. In fact, they couldn’t even see the hole Sama had disappeared into.
Whatever was Sama up to?
As her parents searched for her, Sama was busy exploring the hole. She flashed her torchlight and walked through a long, dark tunnel, until she saw light piercing in through the other end. She switched off the torchlight as she emerged into a park. In just a few steps, she bumped into a sign. It read:
You may play and eat lovely candy for four hours, and then you’ll be transported back to where you came from. You can’t take anything from here back with you. Enjoy your stay!
Sama looked around. She saw a Ferris wheel, racing cars on a track, a field to walk, run and play on, a game and sports center, an indoor playground, a doll house full of dolls and soft toys, a huge carton of robotic tools, a jet powered platform to take you high up into the sky, and piles of candy.
She was excited to play with all the toys. This park was all her dreams come true, like a fantasy world, but really there. She did not know where to begin.
Mama had promised her a doll house for her up coming birthday, but this one was so much more awesome than the ones she had seen in the stores.
Thinking about Mama she wondered, Will my parents be okay with me being here? Did this happen by mistake? Do they know anything about this place? Maybe, I should go home. But I can’t bear to miss this fun. What if I can’t find this place again? Then I’ll never have a chance to enjoy these wonderful toys. Maybe, I could tell them later. Could Mama and Papa have set this up as a birthday gift for me? If they do not know, I can tell them later. They will understand. If they do know, great, because they will be expecting it.
Thus pushing away her worries about her parents, Sama dived into the various activities the park had to offer.
She used the robotic tools to make an android and activated it. It moved its arms and said in Sama’s mother’s worried voice, “ Sama, where have been? We have been looking for you for quite some time.”
Sama deactivated the android. Then she switched it to mode 2, and reactivated it. This time, it sounded like Sama’s father. “ Where have you been? We could not find you. Lets go home and have some freshly cooked lunch, and you tell us all where you have been,” it said.
Next, she drove around at high speeds on the racing tracks, and she bumped into a wall. When she wasn’t injured, she realized it was a safe place where she could not get hurt. She raced against the auto-driven cars and won.
But she was saving the best for last. Finally, she went into the life size dollhouse occupied by giant dolls the size of Sama herself. There was a kitchen, a bathroom, a study, a bedroom, and all kinds of black and orange furniture. Sama’s favorite doll had a name tag Harmony. She was a white Koala Bear.
Sama began a tea party with the dolls when a girl named Amia wandered into the doll house. Glad to have each other for company, Sama and Amia decided to eat some real food. They ate a little bit of candy with waffles and pancakes at the tea party.
As Sama played with Amia, the four hours whizzed by.
Right on schedule, a jet pack came to take Sama home. Whoosh! She went, through the hole once again.
When she emerged from it, she was back on the mountain top. There, she saw a look of worry and relief on her parent’s faces. They were sweaty from searching for her all morning. She went down to them.
“Where were you?” asked Sama’s father sounding worried.
“Yeah, where in the world were you? We could not find you anywhere. You have been gone for four hours. We were so scared.” Sama’s Mother was frantic.
Sama told them all about her adventure, and asked them of she could visit the park again.
Sama’s mother said, “Okay, if you like this park so much, you can go there while we hike. It’s nice you made a friend too.”
“Tell me all about the android.” Sama’s father was eager.
Sama smiled. “Okay, but can we have some lunch, first? All that fun made me hungry.”
“Sure,” Mama said. “I’m amazed you didn’t stuff yourself with candy. Let’s eat.”
After lunch, Sama spent the afternoon telling Papa all about the android and racing car track, and Mama about the doll house. But later that night, she was looking forward to seeing Amia again. They had planed a car race and another tea party.
